OREANDA-NEWS Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will demand the extradition of former Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is reported by Reuters, citing an official Syrian source.
"He (...) He will officially demand the extradition of Assad, an ally of Russia," the publication says.
According to the source, the new Syrian authorities are seeking to get Assad on trial for "alleged crimes against Syrians." The source added that al-Sharaa also intends to discuss the future of the Russian naval base in Tartus and the Russian air base in Khmeimim.
Earlier, the Kremlin reported that the leaders of Russia and Syria would discuss trade, humanitarian and political ties between the two countries at a meeting in Moscow on October 15.
