OREANDA-NEWS Samsung Corporation will start using solid-state batteries in its gadgets. This is reported by the Korean edition of Money Today.
Media sources said that the Galaxy Ring 2 smart ring, which is scheduled for release at the end of 2025, will use a solid-state battery for the first time. It is reported that such a battery has a higher density than a conventional one, so the battery life of a smart ring may increase.
The report says that the new battery, which consists of "solid electrolytes," is also safer than a conventional battery — the risk of such an element catching fire is lower. In the insider report, Samsung's invention appears under the name Dream Battery ("Dream Battery"). It is noted that Samsung will primarily use it in various wearable devices, such as smart rings or watches.
However, the main disadvantage of Dream Battery is its high cost. Money Today experts believe that, given the low consumer interest in the first generation Galaxy Ring, the company may abandon the use of solid-state batteries in these types of gadgets.
Reporters contacted Samsung for comment, but the corporation declined to comment on reports about solid-state batteries.
Earlier it became known that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone will be presented in April. The device will have to get a record-breaking thin case with a thickness of only 5.75 millimeters.
