OREANDA-NEWS. November 9, 2007.New Year’s and Christmas are drawing near – time for travel and holiday shopping. To help insure the security of your monetary resources, Bank Electronika would like to direct your attention to the following rules, which must be observed when using payment cards in Russia and abroad:
1) If someone contacts you by telephone and introduces himself as an employee of the Bank, do not, under any circumstances, impart information about the number of your card, your PIN code, or your codeword. This rule applies even if you are asked for these data ostensibly for identification.

Under suspicious circumstances, ask for the name of the individual and inform him that you will call the Bank yourself. Calls must be made via the public Bank Electronika telephone: (+7-495) 777-88- 66. Ask to be connected with the employee who called you. Please be particularly wary if someone calls or sends an SMS message with information about credit you have taken, the opening of payment cards or accounts, or past purchases about which you have no information.
2) If a problem arises when you are attempting to draw money from an automated teller machine, do not, under any circumstances, accept “help” from individuals with whom you are unacquainted, foremost, from local residents. To resolve problems, contact the bank servicing the ATM via the telephone noted on that automated teller machine. If suspicions arise, contact the processing center at Bank Electronika by telephone: (+7-495) 723-77-21. You will have the
opportunity to consult with a specialist and, if necessary, block the card. The Bank’s processing
center may be contacted 24 hours a day.
3) Do not carry out operations to withdraw cash using your PIN code in retail outlets. Under the most common circumstances, offers of this type are extended to cardholders by friendly local residents. When performing such operations or during an unsuccessful attempt to withdraw funds
from these “cash withdrawal points,” a copy of the card is made and the client’s account is fully drawn down by the swindler. These fraudulent schemes are widespread in Turkey, Egypt, and Thailand – and they may be encountered in other countries.
4) If possible, avoid entirely using payment cards in Thailand and Sri Lanka.
