OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2007. Novosibirsk Metallurgical Plant named after Kuzmin (NMP, ESTAR Group) expects to receive state support for the enterprise reconstruction, Vadim Varshavsky, chairman of the social and technical council of ESTAR Group, said at the Friday briefing.

According to Alexey Safronov, managing director of NMP, the plant reconstruction will go in three stages. “The first stage is to construct an arc-furnace shop. It is planned to construct one electric arc furnace with the capacity of 70-80 t, a “ladle-furnace” unit and a compound CC machine. The shop’s production rate will be 650,000 t per year. We’re going to develop the production of thin slab and square blanks for Guryievsk Metallurgical Plant”, said A.Safronov.

According to V.Varshavsky, it will take the company three years to implement the first stage. At this stage the investments will be about 5 bln rubles.
The second stage implies the construction of a broad sheet roll mill. “The mill will roll 1.5 m wide and 1.5-16 mm thick sheets”, said A.Safronov.
The third stage envisages the construction of a pipe-welding mill to produce high-pressure oilfield tubular goods (diameter – 426 mm).

Viktor Tolokonsky, governor of Novosibirsk region, noted that the authorities will uphold the initiative of ESTAR. In particular, it is planned to grant tax benefits and investments to the enterprise as a partial compensation of the costs of new facilities commissioning for investors.

V.Tolokonsky noted that the investment board is ready to review the investment project documentation in the first quarter of 2008.
NMP produces sheet roll and c/r band from steel and alloys, as well as a wide range of electric welded and cold-worked pipes.
