OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2008. The official ceremony of opening the Embassy of the Republic of Korea was held in Ashgabat marking a new stage in the history of successfully developed Turkmen-Korean relations.

A representative delegation led by the First Deputy of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the friendly country had arrived in Ashgabat on that special occasion. This visit vividly evidenced the paramount importance that Korea attached to intensification of the interstate relations with dynamically developed Turkmenistan

Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov, who participated in the ceremony on the instructions of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, conveyed on behalf of the Turkmen leader the best wishes to the Korean guests and congratulated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, the officials of the diplomatic representation and the honorary guests on the remarkable occasion.

The participants stated with satisfaction that opening the Embassy called upon to strengthen the ties of traditional friendship between the two nations evidenced the partners’ aspiration for expansion of the fruitful dialogue in the mutual interest.

To commemorate the remarkable event the representatives of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea planted a young pine tree near the building of the Embassy.
