OREANDA-NEWS. April 25, 2008. Container terminal NUTEP (a joint venture of NCC and the Delo group) and Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. (Liebherr) have finalized the contract for the supply of a new Post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) container crane. The contract signing ceremony took place on 22nd April, 2008 at the TransRussia Exhibition, the most significant event of the Russian transport industry.

The crane will be put into operation at container terminal NUTEP, Novorossiysk and is scheduled for delivery in July-August, 2009.

This is the first Liebherr STS container crane for Russia.

The new Liebherr crane will have an outreach of 46 m allowing it to handle vessels with up to 16 rows across. Rail span is 15.24 m, safe working load is 50 T under spreader and a lift height of 35 m.

Putting the crane into operation will increase the terminal annual throughput capacity up to 215,000 TEU in 2009, this will be the third NUTEP STS container crane. It will be delivered in accordance with expansion and development program of the terminal. The program envisages total investment of \\$140 M and is provided for gradual equipment replacement as well as yard reconstruction and berth extension, which will allow to increase the terminal capacity up to 500,000 TEU per annum by 2014.
