OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 February 2009 was announced, that the program aimed at developing recreation centres within reasonable walking distance and scheduled for several years stipulates that 150 such complexes will be built in Moscow by 2011.

According to the prefecture of Moscow's northern ward, 10 new sports centres which were opened in late 2008 have become a big gift to Muscovites. The new swimming pools function on 14 Levoberezhnaya Street, 77 Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street (northern Moscow) and 6-8 Villisa Latsisa Street (northwestern Moscow). The recreation complexes receive visitors on 64 Novocheryomushkinskaya Street (southwestern Moscow), 16 Kavkazsky Boulevard, 16-18 Lebedyanskaya Street, 4 Rossoshansky Proezd, 6A Gazoprovod Street (southern Moscow), 10A Lukhmanovskaya Street and 5A Bolshaya Kossinskaya Street (eastern Moscow).

“The sports complexes which have been commissioned are in demand among the urban population. According to the current standards, Moscow will be provided with recreation centres only 40 per cent by the end of 2010, when 150 new ones are to be open. Therefore there is a great deal of work ahead and the program aimed at developing sports complexes within walking distance will be continued,” the prefecture added.
