Bank DnB NOR Listed as One of Top 50 Safest Credit Institutions
OREANDA-NEWS. On March 11, 2009 One of the world's leading financial magazines "Global Finance" has published its updated list of top 50 safest banks all over the world, listing the Norwegian bank DnB NOR that is among the shareholders of Latvian DnB NORD Banka as number 34, reported the press-centre of DnB NORD Banka.
The list of the world's safest banks was composed by comparing long-term senior credit ratings and assets that are at disposal of 500 major banks at global scale as well as based on information summarized and analyzed by Moody's, Standard & Poor's and Fitch agencies.
The CEO of DnB NORD Banka Andris Ozolins, having familiarized himself with this assessment, explains: "We have always regarded the fact that the shareholding structure of our bank is comprised of two stable and positively prudent financial entities operating in Norway and Germany as a significant advantage that is of particular importance in the present strained economic situation.
Growth of the deposit portfolio of DnB NORD Banka both over the last year and during the first two months of the current year was one of the most rapid in Latvian banking sector. Drastic increase in deposits signifies that the population of Latvia considers DnB NORD Banka a stable and successful credit institution, and I am satisfied about the fact that inclusion of our indirect shareholder in the list of top 50 safest banks over the world will encourage further reliance on us in the eyes of both the existing and potential customers of DnB NORD Banka."
Financial magazine "Global Finance" publishes the list of most reliable banks for 17 years, and the contributors stress that the listed financial institutions have displayed better balanced and more sustainable approach and risk consideration then other banks.
DnB NORD Banka in 2008 also was granted the award of the prestigious international "Euromoney" magazine as the bank of the year in Latvia.
