OREANDA-NEWS. March 10, 2010. In particular, prices for foodstuffs grew by 2.6 percent, for non-food goods – by 1.2%, while fees for services rendered to population rose by 2.8 percent in February 2010, it was informed at the National Statistics Bureau.

The biggest growth of prices among foodstuffs in February 2010 was registered for fresh vegetables – by 15.2%. In particular, price of onion increased by 53.8%, beet – 21.1%, carrot – 16.2%, cabbage – 11.5%. Prices for potato grew by 13.5%, sugar – by 10.2%, sunflower oil – by 3.6%, fresh fruit – by 3.3%.

Fish, fish products, milk and dairy products became 2.8 percent more expensive. At the same time, prices for diet eggs reduced by 12%, beef – by 4%, pork – by 3.8%. The biggest growth of prices among non-food goods in February 2010 was registered for fuel – by 4%, including liquefied gas in cylinders – by 5.3%, petrol – by 5.7%. Medicines became 3% more expensive, jewelry – 2.6% more expensive.

Among services rendered to population, housing communal services saw the biggest growth of fees – by 6.9 percent. In particular, fees for electric power rose by 10.7%, centralized heating – by 8.7%, gas - by 5.8%. Tickets to performances became 16.7% more expensive, payment for kindergartens increased by 3.3 percent. As it was reported earlier, inflation in 2009 in Moldova was 0.4%. The country’s Government forecasts the 5% inflation rate for the year of 2010.
