OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2010. In N.W.Telecom facilities all over the North-Western Federal District, open lessons and guided tours for schoolchildren and college students were held. Over 1000 young residents of NWFD took part in the events sponsored by the Company for the Knowledge Day.

In most of the Company’s regional branches, the schoolchildren and students visited selling outlets and service stations of N.W.Telecom, where they were told about up-to-date telecommunication technologies and communication development prospects. In some branches, the kids saw presentations of Avangard broadband Internet access services and Avangard TV digital interactive TV, and demonstrations of the model range of personal computers sold under the Avangard+PC program.

In some regions, schoolchildren and students visited the Museums of Communications of regional branches of N.W.Telecom. They heard the history of development of the industry, and saw unique exhibits, such as vintage telegraph and telephone sets, components of bygone manual and step-by-step exchanges etc.

There were also regions where N.W.Telecom specialists conducted open lessons right in schools and colleges, telling the kids about advanced telecommunications and North-West Telecom, demonstrating the Company’s services, and offering amusing quizzes with useful prize gifts.

Noted Oleg V. Popov, Deputy General Director & Commercial Director of N.W.Telecom, “During the open lessons and guided tours, the boys and girls got a unique opportunity not only to look at the work of communication people, which may influence their choice of occupation in the future, but also to learn about new advanced telecommunication services, and to improve their knowledge of safe working in the Internet. North-West Telecom intends to conduct such open lessons/tours in the future, since they provide useful experience of interaction between schools and an up-to-date enterprise.”

According to senior schoolchildren and students themselves, the events dedicated to the Knowledge Day proved to be very informative, and made some of them seriously consider future occupation in the telecommunications.

In several regions, open lessons and guided tours for schoolchildren and college students are provided regularly during the year. N.W.Telecom also plans to arrange events dedicated to the Knowledge Day every year. You may inquire about such lessons and tours at the N.W.Telecom customer service centers in the respective regions.
