Estonian Air Passenger Number Grew Fourth Month in Row
OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. In August Estonian Air carried 59197 passengers, out of which 54593 on regular flights. The total number of passengers increased 8.2%, of which on regular flights increased by 10.3 % and decreased on charter flights by 12.3 % y-o-y, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.
In the first eight months Estonian Air carried altogether 383 271 passengers, out of which 345 511on regular flights. Estonian Air carried from Tallinn 361 361 passengers. The total number of passengers decreased 1.6 % y-o-y, on regular flights 2.5 %.
„The eight month result is influenced by the decrease in passenger number in the first four months of the year. Starting from May the number of passengers carried by Estonian Air has been increasing and the overall decline in passenger numbers has become smaller month by month,“ commented Rauno Parras, Estonian Air Vice President Commercial.
In the first eight months the market share of Estonian Air in the regular flights segment at Tallinn Airport was 42.2%, which is 4.1 percentage points lower y-o-y. The total market share (regular and charter flights) was 39.8 %, which is 2.4 percentage points lower y-o-y.
„The slight fall in market share is coming from optimisation in our flight operations as a result of what the number of seats offered by Estonian Air has remained at the same level. Since the demand of air travel is stabilising at the local market, Estonian Air is planning to increase the number of seats as well,“ added Parras.
In the first eight months Estonian Air operated 6768 flights, which is 0,8% more flights y-o-y. In August Estonian Air operated 898 flights, which is 1.6% more flights y-o-y.
In the first eight months the regularity of Estonian Air was 98% and the 15-minute punctuality was 86.8%. In July the regularity and punctuality were 99.5% and 88.2% respectively.
