OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2010. Tomas Marcinkus, former Gild Bankers partner, begins working as the head of the Business Banking Unit of Danske Bankas. He replaces Algirdas Vilys, who was head of the unit for five years and who has worked for Danske Bankas since 2002 (which at the time was called SAMPO). Mr Vilys begins working as an adviser to the general manager of Danske Bankas, reported the press-centre of Danske Bankas.

Until now Tomas Marcinkus was a partner at Gild Bankers and worked in the field of investment banking. In 2004–2007, he was the director of the Merchant Banking Unit of UniCredit, which is engaged in bank investments in structured unquoted equity and debt instruments in Central and Eastern Europe.  

Mr Marcinkus also worked at the Business Finance Unit of HVB / Bank Austria Group in London (from 2001) and at the Creditanstalt Investment Bank in Vienna. In 1997–2001, he was head of the Baltic Branch of Creditanstalt Investment Bank.

Mr Marcinkus studied mathematics at Vilnius University and Moscow State University. He also holds a diploma from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
