OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. Freight One’s Rostov branch hauled about 2.2 million metric tons of various types of freight on the NCR in January-February, an increase of 30% over the same period of last year. The company hauled over 900,000 metric tons in February alone, up 5% over February 2010.

The company attributes the marked increase to larger volumes of construction materials being hauled (870,000 metric tons, +80%), petroleum products (about 500,000 metric tons, +26%), and cement (more than 470,000 metric tons, +11.5%).

The company began shipping bagged fertilizer in gondolas this year in partnership with EuroChem Company. The company hauled more than 8,000 metric tons of mineral fertilizers during the period from Belorechenskaya and Nevinomysskaya stations for farming companies in Russia and the Ukraine.

To ensure the availability of serviceable rolling stock, the Rostov branch performed capital and depot repairs on 785 cars, an increase of 8% over the same period of 2010.
