OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2012. Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, and Philippe Varin, Chairman of the Managing Board of Peugeot S.A., have signed a shareholders’ agreement on GEFCO SA, the parent company of the international logistics group GEFCO. The agreement was signed in Paris, and will define the relationship between the future shareholders in the company’s management, reported the press-centre of RZD.  

The signing took place at the end of the XVIII session of the Russian-French intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation at heads of government level and was attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault.

Russian Railways and PSA Peugeot Citroen had previously signed a purchase agreement for 75% of the share capital (voting shares) of the company GEFCO SA. The total value of the transaction will be 800 million euros.

The deal will enable the GEFCO Group to strengthen its position on the international market by developing new directions, while Russian Railways will have access to new modern 4PL/3PL logistics technologies. The acquisition of the French logistics company will enable Russian Railways to attract more transit traffic on the Europe - Asia transcontinental route.
