OREANDA-NEWS. February 1, 2013. Industries were the main engine of Belarus’ GDP growth in 2012, Vice Minister of Economy Alexander Yaroshenko told a press conference.

Industrial output accounts for 1.8% of Belarus’ GDP growth in 2012, the vice minister said. Belarus’ economy expanded 1.5%: the contribution of industries stands at 1.8%. agriculture – 0.5%, transport and telecom sector – 0.5%, Yaroshenko informed.

The major source of economic growth in the industrial sector was chemical production and oil refining, production of vehicles.

At the same time, certain industries reduced output in 2012: production of textiles, leather goods, footwear production, the vice minister informed.
