OREANDA-NEWS. The Vale and partners invested BRL 402 million in research and technology between 2009 and 2012. Of this total, BRL 338 million came from its own resources and BRL 64 million was invested by external partners, such as Brazil’s national development bank BNDES and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The investments encompassed 161 projects and 821 research grants in Brazil and other countries.

These figures are part of our first investment catalogue, which was launched on Tuesday, April 30. The project portfolio is classified by geographical region, type and nature of research, business and type of mineral. The grants are also analyzed by region, area of knowledge and modality (technical, graduate course, postgraduate course, research and companies). The document also contains interviews with researchers and examples of research under way.
