OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2013. This was made possible as a result of the implementation by the Government and the State Service of Ukraine for Medicinal Products (SSUMP) of a series of measures on control and quality of medicines.

This was stressed by the Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicinal Products Oleksiy Solovyov during a briefing at the Building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on September 16 of 2013.

"Due to the transition from 2010 to European quality and production standards in 2013 exports increased by 25%," the head of the SSUMP said, adding that medicines of domestic production are supplied to all continents except Australia.

According to him the adoption of mutual recognition of the results of inspections and controls with the EU to boost exports and the SSUMP has already begun consultations with the European Commission on this. "This will export medicines without any technical barriers," he said.

Oleksiy Solovyov said that as of today there are 114 enterprises that have a valid license to manufacture drugs in Ukraine.

He also stressed that growth in sales of domestic products on the domestic market significantly increased.

He stressed that patients in pharmacies also prefer Ukrainian drugs. "This is evidenced by statistics. 65% of packages that are sold in pharmacies are medicines of domestic production. This trend is observed in the last ten years," Oleksiy Solovyov said and assured that "the Government of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine for Medicinal Products will continue to pay great attention to the development of domestic industry and, above all, its export potential."

Ukraine has implemented European legislation in recent years, which aims to bring the system of quality control of medicines in accordance with the standards adopted by the European Union.
