OREANDA-NEWS. While resource recovery of the graphic stack in the RBMK-1000 reactor plant of the No.1 energetic block, the mounters from the JSC MSU-90 holding's daughter company installed 304 and restored 185 procedure channels in the reactor.

Repair and restoration are rather continuous and highly accurate procedures. In the process, procedure channels are to be cut, removed from the graphic stack and dismounted; channels whose energetic wear-out and inner diameter has both exceeded a threshold value of this step, i.e. whose metal has been damaged, are to be replaced. This is how an active zone of the channel nuclear reactor is being restored. Recovered energetic blocks employing RBMK-type reactors will be capable of not less than three years period of operation to be followed by the next recovery procedure.

Works being done by JSC MSU-90 constructive workers are to be completed by 7th November, 2013. The Statement of Work for the recovery of telescopic connections in the tracks implies the workers will have to replace up to 350 procedure channels. The recovery of the 1st energetic block shall be followed by its trial running until December. In case the running shall be found satisfactory, energetic block No.1 shall be started up. Then, energetic block No.2 will be scheduled for repair, with energetic blocks No. 2 and 1 of the Kursk NPP to follow.
