For the 8th year running, we have been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World (DJSI), with the maximum score for Transparency for the 7th time, and another top one for Releases to the Environment. We also stood out in the Social Impact on Communities, Environmental Management Policies/Systems and Risk & Crisis Management criteria.

This year, 333 companies from 25 countries in 59 industry sectors participated in DJSI World, including 27 oil and gas companies. We also returned to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Emerging Markets, a regional index listing 81 companies from 20 developing countries.

In 2012, Petrobras investments and operational expenditure in environmental protection totaled BRL 2.9 billion, a 7% increase on last year. The figure includes environmental management projects and sponsorship for external projects. One of the environmental management projects has already achieved energy savings of 4,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) or 8.6 million gigajoules (GJ) of energy.
