OREANDA-NEWS. The UK Housebuilding Sector rose 10% in Q1 and broke new ground on 13 occasions - most recently on 25 March its market capitalisation hit a record 26 billion pounds. For the first time ever too, there are three pure housebuilders in the FTSE 100. Seven companies reported results in Q1 with average individual pre-tax profits rising 62%; similarly earnings per share rose 130% and with them dividends were up 102%. The average increase in orders was 17.4%. We do not believe that the result of the General Election will be too deleterious to this prospective scenario because. Housebuilding is front and centre on all political agendas. So, yes, there is life after 7 May and as the late, great Mark Twain said: "courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear".
