OREANDA-NEWS. In Karelia, for the first time, a building was demolished using a laser. Specialists of the Troitsk Institute for Innovation and Thermonuclear Research (SSC RF TRINITY, part of the Rosatom State Corporation), together with the Demolition company, used the technology of remote separation laser cutting when dismantling the frames of three bunkers at the liquidated enterprise.

"The mobile laser complex was created within the framework of the Rosatom State Corporation's Unified Sectoral Thematic Plan (SOTP), and this is the first product in the scientific division that began to generate revenue for the enterprise even before completion," said Director General of the Institute Azamat Bedanokov.

According to him, using the new technology, it is possible to cut metal structures up to 250 millimeters thick, both on land and under water. This can be done at temperatures from minus 50 to plus 40 degrees Celsius.

Experts note the safety of this technology: the container with the laser complex and the personnel, when using it, are at a considerable distance from the dismantled object.

"MLK is mobile, autonomous and economical, so we decided to use it in our work," said Anton Tarasov, Development Director of Demolition LLC.
