OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has summed up results of technical development in Moscow Region. Over the past 6 months, the company has fulfilled an annual plan for network rollout by 80%.

Tele2 continues expanding network coverage in Moscow Region: as of 1H17, the operator’s network is covering the territory where over 97% of Moscow and Moscow Region residents live.

The technical department has focused on development of network infrastructure in the Moscow metro. Over six months, high-quality voice and high-speed wireless Internet in 3G/4G standards became available to passengers at 148 stations of the Moscow underground, which accounts for 57% of all stations. According to Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications), Tele2 outperforms competitors in a number of LTE stations and provides the best 4G coverage in the metro.

Between January and June 2017, the operator has continued setting up base stations indoors to improve the quality of connections at the most complex infrastructure facilities of the region. Tele2 has provided stable coverage in large shopping malls and business centres of Moscow and Moscow Region, hotels, exhibition centres and museums (Expocentre, Gostinyy Dvor, the Museum of Russian Impressionism, and the State Kremlin Palace). Taking into account increasing loads on its network, the operator has increased communication channels capacity at key transport facilities (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo airports and the capital’s railway stations), on the territory of entertainment and sports centres. On the eve of the Confederations Cup, the operator carried out additional technical works in order to provide fans with reliable services at the Otkrytiye Arena stadium.

Apart from expanding network coverage and capacity, Tele2 has introduced technologies that considerably improved the quality of connections. In cooperation with Nokia, Tele2 launched solution that automatically assesses the network’s parameters and provides high-quality voice and data during peak loads in the communications infrastructure.

Tele2 has also launched the Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service for its clients in Moscow Region. It allows voice calls over the 4G LTE network, which guarantees fast, almost instant connectivity and superior voice quality (HD Voice). Thanks to continuous 4G connection, Tele2 users may talk on the phone without interrupting Internet session.
