OREANDA-NEWS. A US National Security Agency (NSA) Trojan that is used to access confidential information on personal computers has been identified in China, TASS reports, citing data from China's National Computer Virus Response Center published in the Global Times newspaper.

It is noted that the discovered Trojan NOPEN is a tool for remote control of Unix/Linux operating systems. With its help, it is possible to steal data, gain access to systems, redirect network communications and view information about an infected device.

The publication notes that the Trojan is a typical tool for cyber espionage, but NOPEN is characterized by sophisticated technology, which makes it difficult to detect.

Earlier, the Xinhua News Agency, citing the National Emergency Internet Monitoring Center of China, reported that foreign hackers attack China's cyberspace mainly from the United States.

According to the China State Coordinating Center, which leads efforts to prevent and detect cybersecurity threats in the country, hackers are using hacked computers in China to launch cyberattacks on Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

“Since the end of February, the Internet in our country has been continuously subjected to foreign cyberattacks,” the agency said in a statement.

According to the regulator, the target of cyberattacks, which were carried out by foreign hackers using computers seized in China, was Russia in 87%.
