OREANDA-NEWS  The head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, announced the cancellation of the Victory Parade in the region in his Telegram channel.

"Friends, we have made a very difficult decision - to cancel this year's Victory Day Parade. Yes, the parade is a very important tradition and a great holiday for the whole of Udmurtia, where there are two cities of labor valor at once, for all of us," he wrote.

Brechalov noted that Udmurtia is a defense and strategically important region. "We know that various kinds of provocations are planned, all the services of the republic are on high alert. But most of the participants in the parade are children. We cannot take such risks and will not give the enemy the opportunity to raise morale at the expense of our children," the head explained.

Brechalov added that on the eve of the holiday, every veteran will certainly be congratulated - for them, for example, concerts are already taking place in the courtyards. "We will definitely hold the "Equal to Heroes" review contest, most likely in June, it has already become a good tradition. I am sure that all residents of the republic will remember their heroes on this sacred day, and the immortal regiment will definitely take place in an online format. Friends, I hope for your understanding and support. There is nothing more important than security," the head of the region said.
