OREANDA-NEWS. In China, users under the age of 14 will be able to use the TikTok app only in a special children's mode. This was announced by the owner of the social platform.

Children's mode will filter content for young users, as well as limit the operation of the application. Thus, for children under the age of 14, TikTok will be available only 40 minutes a day from 6 am to 10 pm.

These measures taken are aimed at protecting children from online dangers, among which blind and chaotic consumption of Internet content is distinguished.

Recently, China has been concerned about the state of the country's technology sector. The state authorities have adopted tough new laws on the processing of personal data, applied primarily to private companies. Also in August, they restricted the access of young users under 18 to online games.  All the measures applied by the Chinese state are aimed at preventing the social decline of the population, which can largely be caused by the Internet space.

At the same time, China is not the only country that is worried about young users of social networks. For example, the UK has also introduced new rules that oblige social media companies to operate in the interests of underage users. This prompted Instagram to start checking the age of its users in order to limit the interaction between children and unfamiliar adults in the application.
