OREANDA-NEWS. Apple has fixed a bug where the Siri voice assistant on the iPhone was constantly eavesdropping on users. It is reported by the publication ZDNet.

Apple has discovered a bug in iOS 15 that caused the Siri voice assistant to constantly eavesdrop on smartphone owners. This function is usually activated after the user gives permission to record and analyze voice commands. However, the company said that in some cases, Siri listened to device users despite the fact that they did not give permission to do so.

“This bug inadvertently activated the setting for a small subset of gadgets. When we found a bug, we disabled the option, also deleting voice recordings received from all affected devices, ”the company noted.

Journalists noted that the iPhone usually asks users if they want to improve Siri and dictation and allow data collection after installing updates. The company said that the recorded data helps them improve the quality of the voice assistant.

At the end of January, Apple added a feature to unlock the iPhone using a masked face. Smartphones have begun to recognize the user who wears a protective accessory on his face. The company said that the Face ID feature identifies the owner of the gadget by "unique areas around the eyes."
