OREANDA-NEWS. The holding of one of the world’s largest exhibitions of the mobile industry, the Mobile World Congress (MWC), was canceled due to the outbreak of a new coronavirus.

This was announced on February 12 by the organizer of the event, GSMA. “The GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event," the Association CEO John Hoffman said.

The exhibition was to be held from February 24 to 27 in Barcelona. The decision to cancel was made after several dozen large companies announced that their representatives would not go to MWC. So, Amazon, Ericsson, Facebook, Intel, LG, Nokia, Sony and many other enterprises refused to participate.

Mobile World Congress is one of the world's largest exhibitions of the mobile industry, which brings together leaders of mobile sector from all over the world. Usually, about 100 thousand people visit it.
