OREANDA-NEWS  Russia will cancel international cellular roaming with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, which are members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), by 2025, Vedomosti writes on March 29 with reference to the appendix to the request of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) to major mobile operators of the Union states and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

It is noted that the EEC requested information on tariffs for cellular services in international roaming, as well as the volume and cost of cellular services provided to subscribers of the member states of the Union in 2020-2022.

According to the roadmap that was attached to the request, operators should begin measures to curb fraud on their networks. By the first quarter of 2025, operators should reduce the rates of international interconnect and introduce fair tariffs for communication services for subscribers of the Union countries.

Earlier, on March 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin at an operational meeting with members of the Security Council proposed to discuss the development of relations with the EAEU.

Before that, on January 23, the Russian leader said that he was convinced of the chances of the EAEU to become one of the powerful and self-sufficient centers of the new multipolar world. The President stressed that joint cooperation between the EAEU member states in the development of technological potential, the energy sector, digital transformation and a number of other strategic areas remain extremely important.
