OREANDA-NEWSSouth Korea is the first in the world to commercialize the 5G mobile network across the country. Three telecommunication companies SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus began to provide this service, reports Reuters. According to the agency, South Korean companies began to offer 5G services from 23:00 local time (17:00 Moscow time) on April 3. The 5G mobile network will support the South Korean smartphone Galaxy S10.

The new network will allow sharing information 20 times, and in some cases 100 times faster than 4G networks. New technologies also offer minimal response time when loading data and better support for artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

Nevertheless, the Nikkei Asian Review newspaper, citing the general director of the US mobile operator Verizon Wireless, said that on Wednesday, March 31, the United States outstripped South Korea by launching 5G service. It is noted that the latest mobile network is available in Minneapolis and Chicago.

So, according to the newspaper, the operator offered its customers a 5G network, which is supported by Motorola Moto Z3 and 5G Moto Mod smartphones. “This deprived Samsung Electronics of the right to call its Galaxy S10 5G smartphone the first commercial phone on the 5G market,” the publication said. The American company announced its intention to launch a 5G network in more than 30 US cities in 2019.

The 5G technology was massively tested during the Winter Olympics in South Korean Pyeongchang, which took place last February. Mobile communication of the fifth generation provides high data throughput. Record data transfer rate reaches 25 Gb / s. Such indicators allow online to broadcast video in the resolution of 8K (Ultra HD).
