OREANDA-NEWS. According to the RBK portal, in 2020 the scammers managed to lure about 150 billion rubles from the Russians. According to experts from Avito, Tinkoff and Kaspersky Lab, this is due to a sharp increase in the popularity of online trading due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tinkoff analysts have determined that 60 percent of successful campaigns to deceive users were carried out in the framework of buying or selling goods on real or fake sites. Thus, it turned out to be the most popular type of fraud on the Internet. In 2019, their share in total cybercrimes was less than 25 percent.

Most often, online scammers acted as sellers, but cases of deception of Russians on behalf of buyers and through fake store sites have also been confirmed. In 2020, more than 7.4 thousand resources were found in Kaspersky Lab, which were supposedly sites with ads. Most often they duplicate the name of the real platform, but the word is added. Experts cited avito.payments as an example instead of avito.

Also, scammers use survey scenarios or promotions, demanding great benefits, but having previously requested payment of a commission for participation, most often the amount was about 300 rubles. As a result, the victim does not receive the promised payments, and the fraudsters keep their commission.

On average, in 2020, deceived Russians who tried to buy goods lost 10 thousand rubles each, and on fake store websites to obtain bank card data - an average of 5 thousand rubles.
