OREANDA-NEWS. Maria Peshkova, general director of the Tech Marketing Group marketing agency, advisor to the NTI Competence Center for Big Data Storage and Analysis Technologies based at Moscow State University, said that blocking Instagram and Facebook in Russia could contribute to the development of national social networks. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“In the future, a Chinese scenario for the development of national social networks is possible in Russia. IT companies will create and introduce new products to the Russian market, the success of which depends on how well they can meet the new needs of users,” she said.

Peshkova added that in China, after a similar blocking, less than 30% of citizens continued to use American social networks via VPN.

At the same time, she noted that the transition of users to Telegram and VKontakte due to limited access to Instagram and Facebook will still not allow them to be fully replaced and provide all the needs.

Earlier, Gazeta.Ru wrote that with the blocking of Instagram in Russia, many artists will lose a significant part of their income. Experts talked about which social networks are better for bloggers to switch to instead of Instagram.
