Almost 90% of German Firms in Russia Support Nord Stream 2
The study showed that 72% of firms favored gas deliveries along two routes - along the Nord Stream 2 route, and in transit through Ukraine. At least 15% were in favor of launching Nord Stream 2 without maintaining transit through Ukraine. Another 10% found it difficult to answer, 3% opposed the gas pipeline that runs along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
The Nord Stream 2 project involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year from the coast of Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The launch of the pipeline is expected before the end of 2019. The pipeline will bypass transit states (in particular, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland) through exclusive economic zones and territorial waters of five states: Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
