OREANDA-NEWS Serbia's largest underground gas storage facility, Banatski Dvor, which is jointly owned by Gazprom (51 percent) and Srbiagaz (49 percent), will be expanded to at least 750 million cubic meters. This was stated by the CEO of the Serbian company Dusan Bajatovic, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, drilling is already underway, and next week it is planned to sign a contract for the installation of new equipment for drying (purification from vapors and impurities) of gas.

Currently, there is one such installation in the storage with a production capacity of five million cubic meters, and the new one will be for seven million. Following the talks in St. Petersburg, the parties are also considering the supply of new compressors to UGS facilities from Russian and other manufacturers.

Earlier, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Sinisha Mali said that the Hungarian energy concern MOL could complete the purchase of Gazprom's stake in the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) by mid-March 2026. The sale itself is linked to US sanctions, which effectively block the operation of the company under Russian control.
