OREANDA-NEWS India considers the attacks by the United States and the European Union over the import of Russian oil to be unjustified and unwise, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on the social network X.
"Like any major economy, India will take all necessary measures to protect its national interests and economic security," the statement said.
Earlier on Monday, US President Donald Trump announced that he intends to significantly increase import duties on India. On Friday, he already announced the introduction of a 25% duty on imports from this country, as well as an unspecified fine for the purchase of Russian energy resources. On the same day, Washington signed a trade agreement with Pakistan and promised to help develop the country's "vast oil reserves."
