OREANDA-NEWS Kazakhstan was unable to establish oil supplies in 2022 bypassing the territory of Russia. Izvestia writes about this on Friday, January 6.

The publication notes that in 2022, the Kazakh authorities have repeatedly expressed in favor of finding alternative routes for the supply of their oil. However, as noted, there are no profitable alternatives to transit through Russian territory for oil workers from Kazakhstan, and it will take many years for the country to find new supply routes.

In November, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey agreed on the principles of operation of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) for the next five years. This route will increase the supply of goods from Kazakhstan bypassing Russia to ten million tons per year, that is, more than five times, by 2025.
