Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador over oil spill in Dniester

OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov to send a note of protest after the oil spill on the Dniester.
Pollution in this river was detected on March 10. According to the Ministry of Environment of Moldova, about 1.5 tons of industrial oils in Ukraine got into the riverbed. Due to the pollution of the waterway, the authorities of the republic decided to limit water supply in four districts in the north of Moldova. Moldovan Environment Minister Georgy Hazhder noted that the scale of pollution may require the use of specialized equipment, which was requested from Romania.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova summoned the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova to transmit a note of protest to the Moldovan authorities in connection with the attack of the Russian Federation on the Novodnistrovian hydropower complex in Ukraine on March 7, 2026," the message says.
