The share of Russian gas in the European market has been calculated

OREANDA-NEWS Over the past few years, the share of Russian gas in Europe's energy mix has almost halved. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. He was quoted by TASS.
According to him, if earlier the share of Russian supplies was estimated at about 44 percent, now we are talking about only 19 percent. This was the result of the EU authorities' decision to restrict energy imports from Russia.
There is evidence that compared to 2024, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Croatia, Romania, Portugal and Hungary have significantly increased purchases of Russian energy resources in value terms. In particular, Paris increased imports of Russian raw materials by 40 percent (to 2.2 billion euros), and Amsterdam — by 72 percent (to 498 million euros). According to the independent Center for Energy and Clean Air Research, in just the first eight months of 2025, the EU imported more than 11 billion euros worth of energy from Russia.
