OREANDA-NEWS. The government of Ukraine introduces an additional special duty of 65 % on imports of electricity and coal from Russia. It will enter into force on April 1. It is specified that a new payment does not touch upon anthracite and coking coal.

The decision was made at a government meeting. The initiator of the innovation was the head of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture, Igor Petrashko. The ministers plan to finalize the decision within three days.

The need to limit the supply of coal and electricity from Russia was previously announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service, at present, the country imports coal from Russia, the USA, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and the European Union.
