OREANDA-NEWS. For the first time, Crimea was not included in the top 5 most popular domestic resorts for the May holidays, Kommersant reports, citing Travelata.ru data.

According to Sergey Romashkin, CEO of the Dolphin tour operator, the demand for Crimea during the May holidays has decreased by 40-45% compared to last year.

The main reason for the decline in demand, market participants call the ban on flights with Simferopol and other airports in the south of the country, which has been in effect since February 24.

Tourists are also afraid of the "yellow" level of terrorist threat, announced in seven municipalities and on the Crimean bridge.

Booking systems also note a sharp drop in demand for the Crimea. According to Tvil.ru, in March-April, 18% of housing on the peninsula was booked against the usual 70-75%. The service development director attributes this to transport problems. Also, the hotels themselves, in the face of uncertainty, decided not to open sales for the May holidays and summer.

Earlier it was reported that Russians prefer Moscow and St. Petersburg for the May holidays.
