OREANDA-NEWS. Experts from the Kazan national research technological University conducted a study of quality of domestic and imported vodka.

It turned out that the foreign Russian vodka is stronger. The average of the fortress of the foreign product was 40,04% vol., Russian and 39.9 % vol. Both figures are well within the legal tolerance, which can vary from 37.5 to 56% on.

The study also found that the content of fusel oil (a by-product of alcoholic fermentation, gives vodka unpleasant smell and taste) of import of vodka is higher than in Russian: 0.4 to 6.0 mg per cubic decimeter vs 0,2—0,4 mg.

In addition, imported vodka was worse than the Russian on the content of acetaldehyde (a toxic impurity) and methanol. However, all indicators were within acceptable values, say the authors of the study.

All scientists examined samples meet the requirements of the existing standard. Counterfeit products was not among them.

States that have analyzed the scientific staff of 10 samples of Russian vodka of different brands and the same number of samples of imported alcohol from Armenia, Finland, Belarus and other countries.
