OREANDA-NEWS  In the first half of the year, Russia reduced the import of foreign wine by a third, while Germany dropped out of the top five suppliers, according to calculations by RIA Novosti according to national statistical services.

In the first six months of this year, foreign suppliers sold $304.5 million worth of wine to the Russian market, compared to $433.8 million in the same period last year.

Italy remained the largest exporter in the first half of the year, although its shipments decreased by more than a third to 83.3 million dollars. Georgia lagged slightly behind the leader, with imports from there also decreasing by about a third to $72.8 million. Latvia closes the top three with a decrease in shipments by a quarter, to $ 47.7 million.
