OREANDA-NEWS Sony's video game division has filed more brand protection lawsuits in Russia since the beginning of the year than during the same period of full-fledged presence in the country. In court decisions, we are talking about compensation for the sale of fake PlayStation gamepads on Wildberries. Lawyers associate Sony's actions with a desire to protect its reputation, but note that for most copyright holders, the Russian market remains toxic.

Japanese Sony Interactive Entertainment (responsible for the release of PlayStation game consoles) has filed 25 lawsuits against individual entrepreneurs in Russian arbitration courts since the beginning of the year, ten of them in August. All proceedings for which documents have been published in the file of arbitration cases relate to violations of PlayStation trademark rights. At least in two cases considered by the Arbitration Court of Moscow, it was about collecting compensation in connection with the sale of counterfeit gamepads on Wildberries. In two cases, the courts satisfied the claims in full, in three — partially, the remaining cases are being considered.
