OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of January-August 2026, the main consumers of strong alcohol in Russia were citizens aged 36 to 45 years. This is reported by the newspaper Izvestia, citing data from the federal network of wine stores SimpleWine (part of the Simple Group).

This year, Russians preferred to take strong alcohol in the price range of 1.5-2 thousand rubles, analysts said. The main buyers turned out to be middle-aged citizens. They accounted for 38 percent of all sales, experts explained.

In the spirits category, tequila showed the largest increase in sales following the launch of one of the Mexican brands in Russia. The demand for this type of alcohol jumped by 178 percent during the reporting period. There has also been a noticeable increase in interest in Russian sparkling wine, especially among young people (18-25 years old). Experts attributed this trend to increased demand in the summer.

Cider was also in high demand in 2026. In January-July, sales of low-alcohol beverages in Russia increased by 26.2 percent. Analysts explained that a number of factors led to the increase in demand, including a change in consumer preferences, the lower cost of cider compared to the prices of spirits, and the desire of the audience for lighter flavor formats.
