OREANDA-NEWS The first railway train with lumber from Vologda producers for new Chinese partners has left the Kharovsky district, the press service of the Vologda Region government reports.

The delivery was arranged as a result of negotiations that took place at the Vologda Region Timber Products Demonstration Center in Xi'an.

"The volume of the batch was 5.5 thousand cubic meters, the cost was 122 million rubles. The Chinese partners evaluated the product samples at the demo center's warehouse, after which contracts were signed with the enterprises. A new batch is currently being formed – we will supply another 9.6 thousand cubic meters of lumber to China in the amount of 214 million rubles. By the end of the year, the trade turnover with China is planned to increase by 12%," said Georgy Filimonov, Governor of the Vologda Oblast.

Currently, the People's Republic of China ranks first in the export of timber products from the Vologda region. Last year, the trade turnover increased by 50% compared to 2024. The region's producers are interested in further developing supplies of lumber, plywood, plate products, paper and cardboard, as well as biofuels to China.

Interregional cooperation between Vologda region and China is being strengthened within the framework of the national project "International Cooperation and Export".
