OREANDA-NEWS  Russian shipyards will build and transfer 525 vessels of both river and river-sea class to operators for inland navigation by 2035, said Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

According to him, since 2016, domestic enterprises have built more than 400 vessels, including 54 service and auxiliary, 83 dredging, 209 cargo and 66 passenger and cargo-passenger vessels.

"Construction plans have been formed for all the designated types until 2035. They involve the transfer of 525 river vessels and the river-sea class to operators, which meets the long-term needs of the Ministry of Transport today," Manturov said during a meeting on the development of river navigation with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He specified that 175 designated vessels are passenger vessels.

Manturov also stressed that almost half of them will be built by 2027 under the preferential leasing program using the funds of the National Welfare Fund.
