OREANDA-NEWS  AvtoVAZ has launched production and sales of the Lada Granta CNG bi-fuel sedan, which can be refueled with both gasoline and gas, the automaker said in a statement.

"JSC AvtoVAZ, together with its partner LLC ATS-Auto, announces the start of production and sales of a bi-fuel modification of the Lada Granta sedan equipped with methane gas cylinder equipment. This technical solution has been successfully worked out on the Vesta and Largus families, and now, for the first time in Lada practice, it is installed on the most affordable model," the message says.

As specified in AvtoVAZ, the surcharge for the CNG modification relative to the gasoline version will be 45 thousand rubles.

The gas cylinder equipment is mounted on Lada Granta sedans in all configurations with air conditioning. Retrofitting of the car is carried out at the Togliatti company "ATS-Auto" - a partner of AvtoVAZ for all CNG projects. "Lada Granta CNG uses both gasoline and compressed natural gas methane as fuel. The design of the HBO is safe: a fuse and a high-speed valve built into the gas cylinder exclude the possibility of its rupture and uncontrolled gas output in case of damage to the fuel equipment," the company added.

The cylinder is designed for 80 liters of gas and is located in the trunk, while the volume of the luggage compartment is 340 liters. The average gas consumption is 6.1 cubic meters per 100 kilometers. According to the automaker, a car fully fueled with gas and gasoline is able to travel 1,000 kilometers without refueling.
