OREANDA-NEWS The law on localization of cars used in taxi transportation will bring 10-12 billion rubles of revenue to the federal budget in 2026. This was stated by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Andrey Kutepov, RIA Novosti reports.

He explained that such figures are taken from the estimated growth in sales of domestic cars. AvtoVAZ is considered the main beneficiary of the new law, which has already promised to increase production to meet the needs of the industry and hopes that next year will be more successful for it than the current one.

In accordance with the adopted law, from March 2026, only a car from the list of the Ministry of Industry and Trade can be registered for use in a taxi. The specifics of the domestic industry are such that we are talking about the actual introduction of a ban on foreign equipment.

According to Kutepov, this practice is normal. "Wherever you come to, national brands are used as taxis," the senator is sure. He said the main task was to minimize the dependence of the Russian taxi industry on foreign manufacturers, because it makes the company's fleet vulnerable to sanctions pressure and a shortage of spare parts for repairs.
