OREANDA-NEWS  Cargo traffic in the eastern direction of Russia in January - April of this year increased by 8% compared to the same period last year and amounted to almost 97 million tons. This was reported on Friday in the press service of the office of the presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev following a meeting of the government commission on socio-economic development of the Far East, held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.

"According to the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev, in the four months of this year, cargo traffic in the eastern direction approached 97 million tons, which is 8% higher than the same period in 2022. Transportation has increased both in the domestic traffic of the eastern polygon (plus 4.3%) and in the export traffic (plus 10.6%)," the report says.

The development of the Eastern Polygon was also discussed during the meeting. At the moment, the issue of the implementation of concession agreements in relation to four objects - the Severomuisk, Kodarsky, Kuznetsovsky tunnels and the bridge across the Amur is being worked out. "Now the terms of the concession agreements are being discussed jointly with the investor and Russian Railways," the press service of the presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, said in a statement.

In March of this year, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Valentin Ivanov said that BTS-Most had submitted concession applications for the construction of four BAM facilities as part of the III stage of modernization of the Eastern Landfill. The total volume of investments in facilities is estimated at 588 billion rubles.
