OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian government will subsidize preferential rates for family travel on long-distance trains, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

It is noted that the decision is aimed at supporting and developing domestic tourism. The work is carried out within the framework of the state program "Development of the transport system".

The message says: "Families with children traveling in Russia will be able to buy tickets for long-distance trains at discounted fares. The government will compensate the difference between the regular price and the discount price to carriers. The decree on the rules for subsidizing the new program was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin."

Reduced fares will apply to trips in compartment cars on long-distance trains of all categories. Families with one child or several children under 18 will be able to purchase discounted tickets. The reduced fare will be calculated according to a special formula - as the difference between the cost of a ticket for the selected route in a compartment and 50% of its cost in a reserved seat carriage.

It is emphasized that there are no restrictions on routes - a ticket can be bought in any direction. The program applies to both independent travel and organized tours.

More than 1.3 billion rubles will be required to subsidize preferential tariffs this year. It is noted that the money has already been provided for in the federal budget.
