OREANDA-NEWS Georgia has lost third place in the top 10 most popular destinations for independent tourists due to the rise in price of air travel from Russia, according to Tutu.ru data.

According to ticket services, the cost of air travel increased by 31–55% after the introduction of the ban on direct flights. At the same time, demand also collapsed, despite the fact that Russians can still fly to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi with a transfer.

In assessing the losses in Georgia, it was estimated that in July the country lost about $ 44 million due to the reduction in the flow of Russian tourists. Russian tour operators did not receive about 150 million rubles in July.
